School of Environmental Studies
The School was founded in 1989 by Dr. Dipankar Chakraborti. His research group highlighted the arsenic groundwater problem in West Bengal, Rajnandangaon (Madhya Pradesh) and Bangladesh and the fluorosis problem in Assam.
Research Areas
The Sundarbans (meaning, the beautiful forest in the local language, Bangla), lies on the delta of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers off the Bay of Bengal.
